The bathing water at Finnish beaches are mostly of excellent or good quality. It shows European Environment Centre's annual beach survey.
Five beaches still do not meet quality standards, and four of them are in the Swedish-speaking municipalities. The five are Harrström Korsnäs, Kaunissaari in Närpiö, Marsan of Hanko, Knipan in Raseborg and Sorttamäki in Turku,
The bathing waters are relatively clean also if you look at the whole of Europe. Of the estates where they took samples met the 95 percent minimum requirements, and the water quality was excellent at 83 percent of the estates.
The review was done last year.
On the European Environment Agency website can see what kind of water is in all of Europe's beaches.
